There are serious issues with this proposal as well documented by many conservation authorities, including a particularly thorough analysis by Scugog Lake Stewards.

Most galling is the lack of consultation with, and support of, the existing conservation authorities. Instead of so-called "improvement" this proposal undermines the knowledgeable work and goodwill of those who have lead the conservation efforts for years. Conservation is necessarily local. Each natural region is different both in terms of natural history and community culture in interacting with their natural spaces. Conservation is not the same as manufacturing or building subdivisions - so-called efficiencies of scale are false economies since the price paid is loss of attention and focus on specific, local issues.

I strongly recommend the withdrawal of this proposal as it is written.

Perhaps their could be efficiencies obtained by a certain level of consolidation, but any worthwhile proposal needs to be made in good faith consultation with the existing conservation authorities. Those are the people with the feet on the ground who are knowledgeable, invested in their regions, and can provide meaningful input based on real life experience gained over many years.
