After reading this proposal, it seems unwise, unlikely to lead to the stated desired outcomes and like to have bad results. It is not evidence based. I have serious concerns that amalgamation of such a large area across many municipalities will lead to loss of local representation and the conservation authority being unresponsive to local needs.
I live in London and have young kids. My family enjoys the outdoors and typically buys a membership to the Upper Thames Conservation Authority as we go to Fanshawe Lake and Wildwood frequently. It's important to me that my boys grow up appreciating the natural beauty of Ontario, especially in our local area. We hike, attend guided tours/lectures, and husband is teaching my kids to fish.
We do not want the conservation authorities amalgamated. Please do not move forward with this proposal.
