I am strongly opposed to the consolidation of Conservation Authorities. Having worked at two, I realize the uniqueness of each watershed that requires a conservation authority at the watershed level, not a regional authority. Keeping this in mind, how will the Conservation Authority be expected to deliver the same services across what will now be a much larger area? Will there be regional offices and depots? If there won’t be, we can only expect a decline in the quality of services. I ask the government reconsider their plan on consolidation before watershed level planning, protection and conservation are impacted.
