I believe that the proposed regions are too large. There is a point when regional organizations get so big they become inefficient. There is a place for consolidation to reduce duplication and sharing resources, but once too large, the organization will become a bureaucracy with no local knowledge but run from behind desks making poor decisions. It is essential that local conservation authorities remain local and allow for consideration of the local communities needs now and into the future. Programs offered by conservation aread are important for local communities. They offer educational opportunities to local schools, tourism, liveability with trails and camping! Rural voices are important, especially considering the importance of the watershed in maintaining the health of those communities most of which rely on groundwater for drinking water for themselves and livestock. At a time when climate and environmental is top of mind, changes need to be considered carefully and done for the right reasons. We are stewards of the land. We own nothing and we need to look long and hard at what we are leaving our children and grandchildren! Changes such as the ones proposed should have been discussed more thoroughly in election platforms. I do not recall this being part of the conversation and people should have the opportunity to have there say on this very important issue!
