The plan to build high density housing near the Oakville GO station is an ill-conceived plan that will bring paralyzing congestion to that area. It also does not deliver what it is promising. As a father of two daughters with young families, I can tell you, this is not the type of “housing” they want. Parents with young children want actual houses, with a backyard. Something that gives them and their children some pride of ownership and room to grow. Tiny boxes inside a 55 story tower do not provide the needed housing for our growing population. It is no secret that Canada is experiencing a housing crisis because of ruinous and incompetent leadership at the Federal level that allowed uncontrolled immigration for over a decade. The town of Oakville should not be required to absorb the demographic expansion pressures caused by the inept policies of an irresponsible, authoritarian government that didn’t follow the advice of their own “experts”.
I would like to see the Ontario Conservatives take a strong stance against this type of high density development, and force the Federal government to take responsibility for their harmful decisions. I expect the Ontario Conservatives to stand for families, not endorse and advocate for the Federal government and their continuous destruction of Canadian values. Fight back against this dangerous and intellectually flawed government directives.
Using the MZO to force this high density disaster is heavy handed, undemocratic and does not consider the values of our community.
