To the Minister,
I find the process of forcing extreme densification upon a city or region to be unacceptable and undemocratic.
These specific MZOs would force extreme and reckless density on midtown Oakville. It would more than double that of any comparable development in the GTA, without the infrastructure to support it.
The lack of sufficient infrastructure is painfully apparent to anyone who attempts to travel on the QEW between Toronto, Mississauga, Oakville to Burlington. It is already chaotic.
If you force further densification over and above the OPA 70, you will increase and overwhelming transportation and services that are already overstressed.
The Town’s OPA 70 already permits densities up to 6.0 FSI, which is very high by any North American standard, making these forced densities neither necessary nor acceptable. The MZOs would also eliminate affordable housing requirements, which is what is actually needed.
I vote NO for these MZOs and will also use this remember this decision when the next election comes around.
