I am writing to express my opposition to the proposed MZOs for Oakville mid-town.
At a time when affordable and livable housing with properly funded infrastructure is so needed, these MZO's do not oblige the developer to contribute to community infrastructure and does not compel them to create this housing within a set timeline. It is not what the community wants and this has been expressed through the We Love Oakville plan. This is not about NIMBY ism - this area is not in anyone's backyard - it is about recognizing we need housing that matches the needs of people and communities, not developers bottom line. Our Town Council, in consultation with the citizens of Oakville has come up with a livable plan that benefits all. This is where the decisions on such a large plan should reside. For the province to override this, is a misuse of provincial power. Please hear us and mandate
the Town’s Official Plan Amendment (OPA 70) for all of Midtown Oakville.
