I would strongly urge the powers that be to extend the leases on the cottages in Rondeau Park as well as allow others to buy in or current owners to sell to whoever to maintain and even grow if possible the cottage life at Rondeau Park. I grew up with cottage living at our family cottage on Lake Simcoe near Orillia Ontario. Because of that experience at the age of 55 I still have a closeness to all my Canadian cousins and their families. It was a quiet pace, no running around with a cell phone or computer just enjoying nature, fishing, camp fires cook outs and getting to know one another and really care about one another. My husband was fortunate enough to have that same childhood at Rondeau Park. Sailing, working at the old dance hall parking cars(, his sister worked at the stables), long bike rides, adventures with friends he only saw in the summer, working in the corn when he got older...I could go on and on. The whole atmosphere of Rondeau Park is the most therapeutic environment one could hope to experience if only for a week-end. Friends that we have invited to the area if even only for a day never fail to express a desire to come again. We buy a pass yrly just so we can take friends for a drive around the park especially when the leaves are turning. I could go on and on...the point is cottage living shouldn't just be for rich folks. Working class people need to be able to enjoy the hard work of their forefathers for generations. The whole area benefits from this financially and people now adays do tend to have respect for the environment in a much improved way. Please consider extending these leases and allowing Rondeau Park to be what it used to be.
