By allowing micro cultivation cannabis in the rural area because it is an “agriculture crop” needs to be reviewed. The smell penetrates the neighbouring home’s in the rural areas. The PPS speaks to land use for Agriculture which is to protect the land for Food, Fibre and Fur. Not the production of a corp that is a pharmaceutical product, that impairs the consumer, not feed the consumer.
This type of crop should be produced in an industrial area where smells can vary.
To note that poppies are recognized as an “agriculture crop” but there is now only 3 licenses to grow it and it is illegal for farmers to grow it. Two of the licenses are held by Saskatchewan university for research and now one in Ontario for research.
We should allow the municipality decide where they want this type of production as it certainly is not food that is being produced.
