The Minister of the Solicitor General has begun the process to start building a jail in Kemptville.
The site is a pristine example of rural, wetland, and forested areas in eastern Ontario.
The land supports amphibians, insects, wildlife, and trees on an untouched ecological site.
The land must be left untouched. The SOLGEN plan to build a jail will result in the destruction of 180 acres as described.
The jail site in Kemptville failed to meet a number of important criteria prior to being chosen.
The process of selecting sites for huge institutions must be changed. Natural greenspaces should not be used. The Province of Ontario can use existing properties that have pavement and derelict buildings. The Province would end up saving important greenspace from destruction
