This is missing the mark (intentionally, I suspect.) Doug, we don't want more cheaply made McMansions for one, we want AFFORDABLE housing developments to drive down rent. ie housing for something in the realm of sanity like 1200/month. If your project doesn't meet this aim, it's a waste of time.
Secondly, absolutely under no circumstances should you be paving over the greenbelt. That is not the only place we can develop housing and you're framing it as though it is.
Third, we do not have the infrastructure to welcome new immigrants to Toronto at this time. We are already in a housing crisis, so we need to create incentives to have immigrants move to less developed cities. This has been the deal since time immemorial. Move to a new country, contribute by helping develop areas that are lacking, everyone wins. Making our current crisis even worse by just using them to drive down wages and exploit them for cheap labour is not fooling anyone. Do better.
