I am a resident of Hamilton who grew up in Richmond Hill/Oak Ridges, where my immediate family still resides. It is crimilan to me that your government is rushing development into the greenbelt and the moraine, which is crucial for the sustainability of our fragile ecosystem. There is NO sustainable development possible on these lands! I am also concerned about the loss of power the conservation authority will have as a result of this bill. Conservation lands should NEVER be sold to developers, we need them to prevent floods and protect the habitat, plants, animals, soil, and water, that maintain a liveable environment for us all. The Bill will gut the Green Standards many municipalities have put in place to make new buildings sustainable and energy efficient, with the goal of bringing down local emissions. This will not support the housing crisis; it is quite evident you are lining your own pockets and that of the developers that paid you off. Absolutely vile and corrupt government.
