As a young adult, I am extremely disappointed that this government is proposing to cancel the cap and trade scheme without any reasonable replacement climate change policy. The devastating effects of climate change are well known and beyond debate at this point, and this bill is a gigantic step backwards from where Ontario needs to be in order to mitigate these effects. As a working professional, I don't mind if putting a price on carbon means I have to pay more for gas or other products. What I do mind is my government regressing on climate action and putting the interests of businesses above people. You can be sure that in one or two decades, should a Conservative government still be in power and continue to oppose climate change policies or enact policies that sabotage climate action, that I will never vote for you. And neither will the majority of many other young voters.
