No dump,

As a proud new resident of Dresden and someone who grew up in the area there are so many reasons why I stand against the dump.
Dresden is home to DACS elementary school and LKSC high school. It’s a family community built to cater to all ages and a dump built near this is a big no. The chemicals etc in the air can not let this happen.

Dresden has history through its downtown that it’s maintained so well. Let alone uncle Toms cabin site, rich in black history heritage. Bringing visitors across the world.

The water ways that make south western Ontario so beautiful and fisheries lively would be at risk.
This dump is along Molly creek and ponds. that flows right into the Sydenham. We have to protect this. The North side of the bridge has a ban on it as it’s a protected site for the walleye/pickerel to spawn and keep health numbers to our water ways. The soft shell turtle has been know to habitats the ponds on the site and are on the endangered list. They also habitat the Sydenham but very rare at see. I grew up in tupperville and understand the importance the Sydenham is to our water ways.

On the topic of water ways, the Sydenham leads right to the snye and into lake st Clair. One of the best fishing in the area. Andrew swim holes for families and friends. Wallaceburg our close neighbor has built its downtown on the Sydenham. Many restaurants and businesses are here because of this. New glass town brewery would help revitalize this area. As well as the plans for new walking bridge and other planned events in the area would be at risk with a polluted water way.

Dresden is a growing community that has new homes on the north side and plans for new expansion and parks to be added. We have the president of Ontario builders association here to plan and construct Dresden. And we want to put in a dump??

Dresden has come together to be a huge part of Chatham Kent, by having the Christmas market that makes Dresden ontarios Christmas town. The summer night market and events have put Dresden on the map. A dump will smell and air pollution will take this from us. Especially with trucks running 24 hours every day.

The cost. The cost to have trucks carrying tonnes of garbage from Toronto to Dresden every day must tell us they really don’t want their garbage near them if they are going to pay so much to truck it out here. Think of the additional costs this will add to up keep our roads, our bridges and other infrastructure that’s not built for this.

From past conversations it seems like this won’t bring new jobs to the area either as they have staff planned for this.

Dresden is a community proud to be safe friendly and clean. The proposal and even thought to put a dump 1km from a place anyone would be lucky to call home makes no sense. The destruction it can cause to families health, the water ways and habitats we have protected, just eliminated as we can store Toronto’s garbage? This isn’t our mess. We don’t want it. We should all open our eyes to why they don’t want it either and willing to pay so much to have it shipped out here.
