Simcoe Ontario has plenty of room for growth in underutilized land (in fill) there are many areas of "abandoned"/unused properties with in the existing boundaries. The grow Norfolk plan required 0% land increase for Simcoe and yet they approved an exorbitant 162.1HA of land, far over the "just in case" amount of 29.9 ha that they included in the plan, although in meeting it was stated that this was a "just in case" amount and Simcoe actually required 0 ha.

Although I am one of the properties that would be effected by this decision, I'm am more concerned about the FARM LAND and The KENT CREEK WELLHEAD protected area. I was shocked at the response of Council that if they destroy the protected water that feed Simcoe, they would just pump it in from somewhere else. This is a short sighted and disgusting display of greed. Other than the fact that having water that has to be treated to be safe, and pumping it in would cost a fortune that the township doesn't have. Why would we potentially destroy fresh clean water and prime agricultural land? There are other options that Council refused to look at. It seems these options were due to developer preference for "new" land. Rather than looking at responsible development, they look at what's easy and has the highest profit.

When fresh water is gone, it's gone. When prime agricultural land is gone, it's gone. You can't reverse it once you destroy it. Farm land can't be what it was once developed.

Responsible development???? This plan is the opposite of responsible.
