All of the proposed amendments (1-5) would help.
We are an aging family with an adult disabled son. We are trying to find a small house for us and purchase a garden suite for our son on the property . The local Bylaws are restrictive and have made finding a house that we can afford, with enough property to comply with Zoning requirements, impossible so far. Let alone the cost for the ADU itself. There are no financial incentive programs in our City or neighbouring cities, to help families like ours.
Our little housing model, would be a great solution to house a vulnerable, low income, disabled resident in an energy efficient, sustainable, below market rental unit.
We hope that these proposed amendments won't get caught up in 'Red Tape'.
