It is difficult to understand what benefit there might be for including Exemptions from Environmental Assessment Act (Schedule 3, Highway 413 ACT 2024, Section 2). The environmental assessment act exists to protect Ontarians and the natural environments we rely on to survive. The inclusion of a blanket exemption for the Highway 413 Project goes against this notion of doing good for Ontarians, particularly given that Highway 413 is expected to be developed through ecologically sensitive environments which house species at risk. Making this development project exempt from the environmental assessment act seems nonsensical and harmful to the people of Ontario.
