The changes to the moose license system a few years ago negated opportunities for non-residents to hunt with immediate relatives. After hunting with the same group of guys for 25 years I was no longer eligible to hunt unless my father actually held the tag. Probably the last few years that my father would be able to get out to the hunt camp are not happening. Thanks MNR. Being a Canadian citizen who spent the first 30 yrs of his life growing up in Northern Ontario, working, paying taxes and supporting the local economy, I feel that I am a lot more vested in the area then some who hunt under the residency rules. Not to mention 20 yrs plus of purchasing a non resident license to hunt moose. And now you say that you have too many tags to go around. Why not give some opportunity to non residents to purchase some of these tags? Or maybe non-resident Cdn citizens? I know myself I would easily pay 1K to purchase a license and be able to hunt a couple more times with my father. That revenue could go back into the MNR coffers and support conservation efforts. Maybe that should be the focus? There obviously was not a lot of thought put into revenue with the changes implemented a few years back.
