Why is automobile "king"?
If there is no infrastructure for alternate modes of transportation, people have no incentive to do anything but drive. Perhaps if the test to acquire a license was actually anything but cash grab people would have better understanding and being a pedestrian or cyclist would not require special lane in order to be safe.
Quit perpetuating old ways of doing things.
The routes you're removing bike lanes from are fully accessible for public transportation.
