I feel the new heavy duty diesel emission testing should be more focused on commercial CVOR registered vehicles such as tractor trailers and and medium duty diesels used for business . We need to re design the testing for 3500/1ton diesel trucks as well if they will still be required to have an emission test done that are mainly used for personal use . For example I own a 2007 Dodge Ram 3500 single rear wheel axle truck, which is the exact same as a 2007 Dodge Ram 2500 ( engine, emissions equipment, engine control management computer etc) but because my GVWR on my door sticker is above 4500kg where a 2500 is not, I have to get a heavy duty emission test. Two trucks that are the exact same currently receive two different emission tests because of the weight sticker on the door. My truck is registered personal and used for personal use only, this test is a costly neusance to me (120$-150$) and it also passes the test every time with a opacity reading of 0%, drift of 0.1% and a snap spread of 0%. This testing is costing me as well as other Ontario residents unnecessarily spent money. I feel we need to raise the weight rating that makes it required for heavy duty diesels requiring emission testing, to say 5500-6000kg? There are many people as well as me that use our 3500/1 ton trucks for personal and pleasure use of a daily driver or commuting. We should no longer be required to get emission testing done. Thank you
