Drinking water is a basic human right, vital to life. Our ground waters should not go to bottling companies which profit from water taking which stands to deprive citizens of their right to adequate water. In addition, these companies generate tonnes of plastic waste, most of which is not recycled. If a twenty cent deposit were placed on each plastic water bottle, customers would be less tempted to but bottled water, and a greater percentage of bottles sold would be recycled.
