I heartily agree with the extension of the moratorium on issuing water permits for bottling companies. In fact, I would like to see the moratorium become a complete refusal to issue new permits or renewals for those requests already submitted and for any future requests. Our water should not be for sale particularly when intensive population growth is mandated for our area. We also do not need the extra tax burden to replace damaged infrastructure in our area because of the trucking which will occur. Centre Wellington will be paying higher taxes and much higher costs for municipal water (especially since no new wells can be drilled within a 2 km radius of the Middlebrook well.) Our current well system is inadequate for just the new municipal demands that will be placed upon it.
Please listen to reason. The costs of selling bottled water far outweigh the benefits to Ontario residents in so many ways.
