I am firmly opposed to Bill 212. As a daily cyclist and Toronto resident, I rely on bike lanes to commute safely and efficiently. Cycling helps reduce congestion and pollution, making Toronto a more livable city for everyone. Eliminating bike lanes would push cyclists like me onto busier roads, increasing the risk of accidents and likely driving more people back into cars—adding to both traffic and emissions.
Bike lanes on major routes like Bloor-Danforth are essential for safe, accessible commuting. Additionally, removing vehicle parking on major roads—especially those with streetcars—would greatly improve traffic flow, benefiting all road users. Rather than taking away bike lanes, the Ontario government should be investing in more cycling infrastructure to create a healthier, greener, and less congested city.
