EVERYBODY should be…

Commentaire

EVERYBODY should be extremely concerned and disturbed about this plan.

Drivers - should be concerned because without bike lanes, you'll have to share the lane. Besides, most bike lanes used to be parking, and most still offer part of the space for parking.

Children - will be endangered because this bill removes Bloor lanes that have NO "SIDE STREET" ALTERNATIVE. Children who cycle will no longer be able to safely ride.

Farmers - should be disturbed because this bill allows for the UNREGULATED EXPROPRIATION of farmland where Highway 413 is to be built.

Transit users - should be concerned that our government is devoting its valuable time and resources to waste $48 million removing several high-quality bike lanes that have been in the works for years, instead of opening any of the LRTs.

Business owners - should know (and many have found) that bike lanes dramatically increase footfall, and in turn, revenue. This has been observed everywhere in Toronto, including the Bloor BIA. Removing bike lanes will hurt businesses.

Mobility aid users - will lose a significant amount of freedom from the removal of safe infrastructure.

Nature - will continue to be decimated by the GTA's rapid sprawl, brought on by Highway 413 that will run right through the Greenbelt. To add insult to injury, the highway will also be exempted from the Environmental Assessment Act.

Cyclists - need I say more?

Everyone else, including suburbanites - should agree that our government is wasting our tax money on Doug's personal fantasies instead of actual problems, and should also be concerned about the removal of restrictions on expropriation.

"Mayor" Doug Ford - we're real people, with real lives, and real futures. Please stop acting as if Ontario is your giant sandbox.
