Removing bike lanes is not the solution to Toronto’s traffic problem! This will only cause the loss of millions of tax payer’s dollars and create unsafe cycling conditions. Ontario has to be better at prioritizing other modes of transportation. Going though with this Bill would only set us back from all the efforts that the City of Toronto has made to improve cycling conditions.
Even if this Bill goes through (God forbid), this “solution” will be temporary. In a couple years, the influx of single-occupancy vehicles will cause just as much, possibly more congestion to these streets. We need long-term, sustainable solutions. The tax dollars going towards this project would be much better used towards alternative, sustainable modes of transportation. Please reconsider.
