The Ontario government, OEB, IESO and LDCs are to encourage condominium corporations and homeowners to have access to and use of local EV charging, Solar PV, windmills, batteries (behind the meter home and Electric bidirectional charge/discharge Vehicles), small hydro, SMRs and all other grid located DERs. Policies and electricity rate directives must be continued, expanded or initiated to initiate and speed development, deployment and expansion of home solar and battery (behind the meter) pairing while connected using Net Metering contracting, development of local microgrids and Virtual Power Plants to share the financial benefits to the equipment owners, community and all stakeholders. VPPs could be run by the utilities or private sector partners. Educational displays are to be established in existing museums, government buildings or other appropriate places where the local residents may learn about the electrical grid and the process and challenges to electrify everything without the use of fossil fuels. There is to be a visiting gallery in the operational rooms within the IESO and all LDCs for public viewing of the grid managers at work providing them constant, safe, reliable, resilient and sustainable electrical energy through trading with neighbouring jurisdictions and management of in-province resources and loads. Appropriate educational numerical models, pictures and graphics are to be made available on Websites and where appropriate on promotional brochures.
OEB, IESO and LDC members must participate in at least 10 presentations each month to appropriate service clubs, professional organizations, NGOs, municipalities, other government departments, industries, high schools, colleges and universities to explain existing designs, disaster recovery, expansion plans, challenges and employment opportunities. These presentations must be delivered around the entire province as everyone needs to understand the importance and challenges facing the Ontario electrical Grid and their local controls.
