1. Lifting the moratorium on offshore wind responsibly, with shoreline restrictions e.g. up to 10 kms from shore in support of "far-offshore wind" is essential to achieving the objectives of Ontario's Clean Energy Future.
2. Follow through with the removal of barriers for Private, Virtual or Physical PPAs in allowing the private sector to participate and attract further large investment to Ontario including potentially green hydrogen.
3. Far-Offshore Wind Energy can play a significant and integrated role alongside other energy alternatives.
4. What is the advantage of maintaining a moratorium on offshore wind?
5. Truly embrace the "all hands on deck" & "technology agnostic" approach by removing the exclusion of a significant, competitive, clean resource.
6. Address past political challenges and current litigation by removing moratorium
7. Support Offshore Wind as the renewable energy with least NIMBY factor utilizing the vast uninhabited space in the far-offshore spaces in our great lakes.
8. Offshore Wind is an affordable, clean and compatible (>50% CF) supplement to Nuclear and reduces short term dependence on Gas which in turn reduces cost, GHGs, and timelines of development.
9. Offshore wind dramatically increases capacities for energy exports via underwater transmission cables to MISO/NYISO
10. Offshore wind includes significant and diverse economic development including rekindling marine ports, technologies and innovations
11. Specifically Trillium Power's TPW1 Offshore Wind Project is already at an advanced development stage and represents a catalytic opportunity with potential to deliver clean, affordable power to the grid quickly.
