Why is Chatham-Kent being asked to absorb a second large-scale landfill, while dozens of Ontario municipalities have none? This is not just a local planning issue—it’s a question of fairness and responsible, province-wide waste management. The Ridge Landfill already handles a significant portion of Ontario’s waste. The people of Dresden and Chatham-Kent deserve a full Environmental Assessment to evaluate whether concentrating another facility here is justified or safe. Without it, the government is placing convenience for waste companies above the health and rights of our community.
