I am writing to voice my strong opposition to the proposed landfill near Dresden. This plan is deeply flawed and should not move forward.

To begin with, this site was never intended to be a landfill. It was previously an incinerator and a tile yard — not a licensed landfill. Re-purposing it as a landfill without full consideration of its history and proximity to the town is irresponsible. The proposed site is far too close to residential areas and raises serious environmental and safety concerns.

Landfills generate methane and other harmful gases. Placing one this close to a populated area puts our health and safety at risk. It could contaminate nearby water sources and damage sensitive ecosystems, including habitats of endangered species in the area. The potential for long-term environmental harm is high, and once that damage is done, it's irreversible.

As a legally blind and hearing-impaired resident, I am particularly concerned about the impact of increased truck traffic. More trucks on the road will make it more dangerous and difficult for me to move safely around town, including getting to and from work. This is not just an inconvenience — it’s a real threat to my personal safety and independence.

This proposal puts too many people at risk and offers no real benefit to the community. It prioritizes waste disposal from outside regions at the expense of the people who live here. The town of Dresden should not be forced to bear the burden of a landfill it never agreed to, especially without a full environmental assessment or proper public consultation.

I urge decision-makers to reject this proposal and protect the health, safety, and rights of Dresden residents.
