As a concerned member of the Dresden community, I respectfully but firmly urge you to reconsider the proposed amendment to your waste processing facility at 29831 and 29841 Irish School Road.

Your company’s stated mission includes environmental stewardship and community responsibility. The current expansion proposal—to increase the site to 25 hectares, allow 6,000 tonnes of waste daily, and operate 24/7—directly contradicts these principles when placed in the context of its proximity to schools, childcare centers, and family homes.

Irish School Road is more than a location—it’s a neighborhood. It’s home to children learning, families growing, and a community thriving. Introducing an industrial-scale waste processing operation into such a sensitive area brings significant risks:
• Air and noise pollution that would undermine the well-being of residents, especially vulnerable populations like young children and the elderly.
• 24/7 operations and increased traffic of heavy waste-hauling vehicles, which would endanger road safety and disturb the peace of our community.
• Potential exposure to hazardous materials, including asbestos-containing waste, which raises alarming long-term health concerns.
• Visual and environmental degradation from outdoor storage of debris such as wood, brick, and concrete.

This is not just about infrastructure—it’s about people. About children playing in their yards, walking to school, and breathing clean air. About families who chose this area to raise their children in a safe and healthy environment.

We ask you to consider a more suitable location for this expansion—one that does not place vulnerable populations at risk. Partner with us, not against us, by prioritizing community consultation and the health and safety of residents.

York1 has the opportunity to lead by example—to show Ontario that environmental solutions can coexist with social responsibility. We hope you’ll rise to that challenge.

Sincerely,
A Concerned Member of the Dresden Community
