Writing to express my concern regarding the potential removal of the environmental assessment for the proposed York1 waste landfill. The chosen location is highly troubling due to history of flooding in the area surrounding Molly’s Creek. Proximity of the proposed site to Molly’s Creek poses a significant risk. In the event of future flooding which is highly likely based on the past, there is a serious danger that waste materials could flood into the creek contaminating the Sydenham River. I urge to consider the long-term environmental consequences before proceeding without a thorough assessment.
