This amendment to the Environmental Assessment Act, entirely circumvents the purpose of this law. The EAA was created by people that had an intention of protecting our environment(drinking water, wildlife, life sustaining needs, recreation). These certain criteria have to be met, so as NOT to destroy our living conditions. The policing system of the EAA has to be the citizens of the area.
Our Sydenham River is under a threat of becoming overrun with contaminants from YORK1 because they have found #1 A loophole in the licensing process of lands previously designated as a "DUMP".
#2 A premiere who is willing to re-write the EAA to suit a political donor's wants and needs, for profit.
#3 A perfect storm to expediate profits at the cost of the recreational and life sustaining traits of the Sydenham River
They were hoping for a group of uncaring residents, but instead received resistance from the townspeople that live here and DRESDENCARED was formed.
DRESDENCARED has spent the last couple of years alerting and educating the public, of this assault and have been granted an Environmental Assessment for YORK1 to proceed.
DRESDENCARED have been at the epicenter of this very controversial re-write.
DRESDENCARED represents the policing system of the EAA and the people.
The Environmental Assessment of the YORK1 proposed dumpsite is imperative to the proposed operations and protection of this delicate ecosystem. This re-write or addendum to the law must be quashed and voting "NO" is the only way.
