I strongly oppose removal of the environmental assessment requirements for the York1 waste disposal site project through the proposed Protect Ontario by Unleashing our Economy Act, 2025. Environmental Assessments are required to determine how much damage any project will do to the environment surrounding the project, including to drinking water, ecosystem services, and other environmental features that are vital to supporting a healthy community. Removing the requirement for an Environmental Assessment is basically saying that the government no longer cares about the health and prosperity of the surrounding community.
