I am writing to express my deep concern and strong opposition to Bill 5, Protecting Ontario by Unleashing the Economy Act. In particular, I oppose the proposed immediate amendments to the Endangered Species Act (ESA), as well as its full repeal and replacement with the new Species Conservation Act, 2025 (SCA). We are at a critical time and the hard-earned work of protection the environment we all depend on to exist must not be compromised. We have a duty to the (very near) future. This careless focus on lazy development will destroy us.
