I am against removing environmental assessment requirements for the York 1 dump under any circumstance, even if quote “due to the threat of US tariffs impacting Ontario’s waste sector”. If they obtain it, what stops all the other dumps in Ontario from requesting a waiver?

The environmental assessment is there to protect our environment, our clean water sources. I urge you to keep the EA requirements for all dumps.

Shame on us for producing so much waste that we need to export a third of our trash to the U.S.A! Focus should be made on reducing waste instead.
