Bill 17 negatively impacts municipalities’ ability to implement Green Development Standards. GDS cut emissions, lower energy demands and bills, allow healthier and safer new homes, reduce infrastructure costs, and prevent increasing property - all extremely important factors to consider given the climate emergency and cost of living. I strongly suggest that municipalities continue to be able to ensure new developments deliver on the above through GDS.
