Thank you for providing an opportunity for public comment. In regards to the transfer of responsibility for Nancy Island, I am concerned that a historic site will be treated as a potential tourist attraction excluding its role as a purveyor of local historical information. If you can ensure there is some guarantee that its history role will be well maintained my concerns would be assuaged.

I am less enthused with the transfer of Crown land to the municipality of Wasaga Beach. My family have been residents of Simcoe County since 1870, so I am familiar with the history of this area and the development of the provincial park. I have no confidence in the current Councils' ability or willingness to maintain these lands as public park areas. To my mind the transfer would result in the Province divesting itself of a responsibility to the public, in the full knowledge that the land may be commercialized in a way not envisioned by your proposal. Please reconsider this, if not for the good of the people, than for the votes the governing party would lose in this blue riding should the municipal Council take the opportunity presented to it by the divestment to commercialize the area.
