I am extremely concerned that our town council is hugely in support of development and will not respect the unique ecology of Wasaga Beach. This mayor has not indicated, ever, that he supports the protection of the piping plovers who have nested on our beach since 2008. Lire davantage

As a resident and taxpayer in town of Wasaga Beach I find this proposal both confusing and alarming. You propose to remove Beach Area1, 2, New Wasaga and Allenwood Beach from the jurisdiction of Wasaga Beach Provincial Park. Removal to whose jurisdiction? The town? Lire davantage

This needs to take into consideration strong environmental protections and stewardship. This land is home to the endangered Piping Plover, who nest in the area. It's critical habitat for the species. The vital role they play in our ecosystem: Lire davantage

I believe it is very important that we do everything possible to protect the nesting habitat of the Ontario Piping Plovers. The Piping Plovers disappeared from Ontario in 1988. A very few returned in 2007. We have had seven nesting pairs in Ontario this year. Lire davantage

I am very concerned about Bill 5 that has enabled the town of Wasaga Beach to buy the beach area where our fragile population of Piping Plovers nest. There are only about 7 nesting pairs in Ontario. There are 20 nesting pairs of Piping Plovers in the whole Great Lake region. Lire davantage

I strongly oppose the sale of Beach 1 and 2 to Wasaga Beach. Piping Plovers are an endangered species and they have been successfully nesting there since 2008. Attempting to move them would be extremely detrimental to their future existence. Lire davantage

I believe strongly that the provincial park should keep their land and i’m worried about loosening protection of piping plover nesting habitat as this greatly increases the risks of extirpating the species from ontario.

If the town gets control of areas of the provincial park, what is Wasaga's plan for protecting that land? Who will monitor algae blooms? Will the beach be raked when it shouldn't be? Will there be a body to test and monitor water quality? Lire davantage

I strongly oppose this proposal for the removal of land from Wasaga Beach Provincial Park and the sale of the land to the Town of Wasage Beach for development. These protected areas include critical habitat for the endangered piping plover, as well as valuable habitat for many other species. Lire davantage

The proposal to remove four Wasaga Beach areas from the protection offered by the Provincial Park system represents a significant step backward. This action would expose these lands to potential development and changes that would not be permitted under the current Provincial Parks protection. Lire davantage

I do not agree with this proposal. The removal of Beach Area 1, 2 and New Wasaga from the Provincial Park and SALE of the land to the Town of Wasaga Beach is against the Provincial Park and Conservation Reserves Act (PPCRA). As an Ontarian, this proposal offends me deeply. Lire davantage

Please allow the Park to retain the Piping Plover habitat as it is a known nesting sight that has helped bring the population of these birds back up.

Hi! I am writing to ask that you consider allowing the piping plover habitat (located from Spruce St to the River) remain part of the Provincial Park so we can ensure the well being of these birds moving forward. Thank you!

Piping plovers are an important species within the ecosystem of Ontario Birds. As an Ontario citizen, I’d like for the Piping plover habitat to be protected at Wasaga beach and am against the development of their home. They’re a critically endangered species due to our actions. Lire davantage

Please leave the Wasaga Beach piping plover habitat with Ontario Parks to protect it from development and continue their important work helping these endangered birds return from near extinction. Development in that section of the beach would ruin the experience of the waterfront for beach goers. Lire davantage

Please allow the Provincial Park to maintain the Piping Plover habitat from Spruce Street to the river. Please do not allow any development of this area as Piping Plovers are endangered. I have supported the ownership of the municipality of the beach and I don’t want to regret my support. Lire davantage

Provincial park land should not be sold to the city. Provincial parks are designed to protect nature and allow us to enjoy it. The city does not have the same goals. Lire davantage

Please do not destroy the Piping Plover nesting area at Wasaga Beach. It is one of the few areas where this endangered species has successfully bred over the past few years. It is an important area to protect if this species has any hope of surviving. PW Barrie, On. Lire davantage
