I live on Burlington St east, and pass by the Janesville complexes on my way to work every single day. It's disgusting to see so many houses that were once affordable go to waste, at the same time I see my neighbors on the street, homeless, living in tents, in need of help in one way or another due to drugs or addiction. I see them kicked out of public spaces, kicked out of their tents and thrown into the gutter like they're disposable, when they are in fact human beings in need of help from their government and city. The fact these houses have sat for ten years while this happens, while Canada faces an unprecedented housing crisis is astonishing, we should be better than that. People before profits, this city can be great but it can't be anything without the people who live in it.
