I believe these proposals are critical to supporting the future of tourism in Wasaga Beach.
Nancy Island is a very important part of Canada's history. Unfortunately it's been neglected for many years due to lack of funding under its current ministry and lack of promotion. Having it under the Ministry of Tourism just makes sense so it can be restored to a historic site that will draw people in to view it and learn about it's role in our history.
Our beaches have only received basic maintenance by the current ministry for far too many years and they have lacked improvements such as new picnic tables, more garbage receptacles (that are not oil drums) and same day garbage removal to avoid overflowing receptacles and overnight damage caused by seagulls, raccoons, etc.
With the ownership being transferred to the Town our beaches will receive the ongoing maintenance needed.
I only hope that the remaining Beach areas still to be looked after by the existing ministry will follow suit and spend the dollars to improve the appearance and upkeep of the World's Longest Freshwater Beach.
