What part of “endangered species” is this government unable to understand? Habitat loss is one of the key factors that is killing off all manner of flora and fauna in this province at an ever increasing rate. The Piping Plover is a bird that has a limited breeding and nesting area. It was nesting on Wasaga beach long before it became a vacation spot but now will be driven out if development is allowed to take place there. Even if the development were to be for permanent homes that would not be sufficient excuse for this egregious act of vandalism but this is for seasonal use which makes it even worse. As a citizen and a taxpayer I demand that the protection that is due the Piping Plover and its breeding ground be accorded to it as an endangered species and development be moved to another location. Selling off Provincial Parks or portions of them, is a betrayal of the trust, wisdom, and the vision that lead to their creation in the first place. The parks are a true example of the conservative ethic that this government has flagrantly ignored in the pursuit of short term gain.
