As a member of the community…

As a member of the community of Wasaga Beach I strongly and passionately disagree with the proposal to sell 60 percent of our beaches to private owners. I grew up here raised by the beauty in our environment. I did an SHSM in environmental science in highschool and learned of our parks. This changed who I was and has led me forward to critically understand the need for provincial parks and environmental conservation.. Our parks make Wasaga the beautiful destination it is. We must preserve our parks for not only our community, but for the entirety of Ontario. To lose these parks and the protected habitats of the plovers is to lose what makes Wasaga a place of inspiration.
To go forward with this proposal is disrespectful to the community, the Indigenous peoples who were here before us, and the duty we owe to the world to maintain environmental beauty.
