This is a short sighted…

This is a short sighted proposal. If we loosen environmental protection bringing about inadvertent contamination of the environment the costs will be exponentially greater than the benefit of any business that is attracted in the short term.

I live near Elmira, On. where the effects of the chemical plant toxins continue to contaminate the water table and rates of cancer are disproportionately high. I work in palliative care- I know this is true. The cost of getting clean water to Elmira and medical care to those with cancer are huge, never mind the social and emotional impacts on the community. In addition we know from the GM closures that companies do not hold onto loyalty to communities that give them financial benefit.

I care about a clean, healthy environment. Also, since Waterloo Region made environmental protection a primary concern our unemployment has been reduced!

I worry that you don't really wish to receive my feedback at all and will disregard my input and the input of many others. Let me say clearly I AM AN INDIVIDUAL and not part of ANY interest group. I have used my precious free time right before the holidays to give you this feedback. I care and I know there are many others who care and will not take the time to write.
