I strongly oppose this proposal. Wasaga Beach is an important area that should be maintained as a provincial park, allowing access by the public to the waterfront. It took decades to form this park's boundaries so that everyday people could have access to the natural beauty in Ontario's.
If this proposal is approved developers will tear the beach apart, contributing nothing but more mansions and private views for the wealthy. Even the development of hotels or entertainment features should not be considered here. The waterfront should be maintained as a park to allow for the most access by the public without requiring people to spend money to enjoy the waterfront.
Provincial decisions need to prioritize average, everyday citizens, and public wellbeing, not short term financial gains for the wealthy or private investment opportunities. It is appalling that this proposal tries to portray privatization as a tourism enhancement. Tourism needs public parks and access to Wasaga beach, for everyone, not more private homes or other developments within the waterfront area. If Ontario is really not for sale, as indicated by Doug Ford in response to statement from Trump, then its time to act like it. Wasaga beach is not for sale if Ontario is not for sale!
