I would like to make it clear that I am in opposition to this legislation and the transfer of any provincial park, crown or conservation lands, I do not think other bodies are well positioned to be stewards for these lands and this is a key voting issue for me. I actually believe that the province should in fact be acting to expand these green spaces, especially in southern Ontario.

Additionally, regardless of the course of action taken, I would like to call in the province to ensure that every action is taken to ensure that the piping plover habitat contained in the lands being discussed be maintained at all costs. This includes the protection of all dunes, a ban on the alteration of all dunes, the restriction of the raking of sands, and additional controls to ensure that nesting sites are protected and not disturbed. This must be done in consultation with experts.
