Democracy Caledon endorses…

Democracy Caledon endorses the ERO submission being made by Gravel Watch Ontario (GWO). The GWO submission recommends that the MNRF consider the points made in five categories and require that 2004295 Ontario Inc. withdraw its request for a site plan amendment for the Aecon Caledon Pit until there is a complete understanding of the potential adverse effects that will be created by dumping excess soil into the below-the-water-table pit.
The five categories of concern are:
(1) Location of excess soil dumping within the Aecon Caledon Pit
(2) Amount of excess soil to be imported into the pit
(3) Effects of the excess soil on the Caledon Outwash Channel that is entirely located within the pit
(4) Haul route and increased truck traffic
(5) Modifications to the site plan do not meet multiple regulatory standards
