I am writing to you about Aecons request to import up to 11 million metres of fill in order to fill 571 hectares below water pit, including into “Pond”/ lake that borders Green Lake in Caledon. This property is adjacent to McLaren Road where hundreds of residents rely solely on water wells to meet their daily demand for water. Any digging or filling of these areas can so easily disrupt the natural flow of water to these wells and there have been no formal studies to support the fact that such action will not affect the residents in the area.
This request combined with the outstanding decisions with regard to the backfilling of Swan lake and the CBM Quarry and Lafarge pit expansion, All within a 6km stretch from Willoughby Road to Shaw's Creek Road along Charleston Road set off red flags that need a lot more study and analysis.
I therefore strongly oppose the approval of this request based on the foregoing facts and implore you to look very deeply into this matter before making a decision on Aecons request.
