Change is bound to happen as our town evolves and grows but it would be a big mistake to hand over the beaches and parks to the town for them to develop into housing! It has been proposed for 3000+ units in the ‘downtown’ area which means losing all that public parkland and parking for the millions of visitors who come to our world famous destination. The town can not support that scope of housing/development as it stands and as only one road in and out of the area of Beach 1/2 it would be incredibly stupid of them to even try. Losing this valuable parkland would do the town and province a disservice as once it’s destroyed it can never be public land again. Our flora and fauna are endangered and this is just not the right way to develop our town. I’m appalled that the town is currently destroying a once thriving beach drive and turning that into townhomes etc….we need our beach to be available to everyone who wants to visit our town and not turn it into a playground for only those who own. It is NOT THEIR PERSONAL PLAYGROUND but that is what the council will turn these valuable assets into if the transfer is allowed to proceed. Please stop this and do what is right for the masses and stop greedy developers from destroying our natural heritage!!!!!
