I am strongly opposed to the proposed transfer. Municipal politics are problematic, susceptible to the influence of "developers" who can manipulate municipal politicians with alarming frequency. This is especially true for Wasaga Beach with its record of bad decisions to accommodate particular private interests. The location of the new Library/Arena is a prime example.
Parks Ontario has been an effective steward of the provincial lands in Wasaga. It has conserved and protected sensitive environmental resources. Transferring this role to the Town would be very dangerous.
Do not fix what is NOT broken.
