This area is essential for the conservation of Piping Plovers in Ontario, the loss of this site will likely result in the extirpation of the species from the province, as this is the only stronghold population. Removing this area from the provincial park will result in zero protections being left, after the endangered species act was amended earlier this year. This CANNOT go through without detrimental affects to Piping Plovers.
